Scenic Platter

This is a superb scenic platter made by Niderviller around 1780. It is hand painted with a large scene in the center including three people, some buildings / ruins with greenery in a landscape surrounding. The rim has four nice bugs / butterflies painted on it and there is a gold trim to the nidecly shaped edge. The platter is marked with their interlaced CC mark with another mark above it (like a decrepid crown) but what makes this piece very unusual is that there seems to be an actual signature incised underneath by the foot ring. I have never come across anything like it from this maker. Sadly I cannot quite make it out but it looks to be Jacob Chrising - I am fairly confident in the first name but the last I have a tough time reading. The piece is 1.375 inches tall, 12.75 inches wide and 9.25 inches deep. The piece is in amazing condition with just a few tiny firing marks but no wear or chips, etc. Even the painting seems to be extra nice for this maker. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $599
