Fleur en Terrasse Scene Cup & Saucer

This is a superb cup & saucer set made by Nymphenburg in the 18th century. Both pieces are hand painted with a very rare design that I had only seen a modern version off before. It is their version of the fleur en terrasse design more commonly seen on KPM examples except here they used a basket design as the base which is just superb. The outer / top rim have a ring of all sorts of flowers painted all around and instead of them growing out of the ground like KPM does it here they grow out of a basket and are flowing over the edge in places. A really pretty idea / design. The entire bottom half of the cup is the basket and most of the saucer center except the very middle which was left open to paint a single flower into it. Nice handle to the cup with gold highlights. There used to be a simple gold trim to the edges but that is mostly gone now. Otherwise in amazing condition except for a touch of wear to the basket design of the saucer, a crack in the bottom terminal of the handle (a common issue on their early cups) and a chip to mostly the inner foot ring as shown on the cup. Two tiny paint chip to the outer foot ring of the cup and a flaw from when it was made in the bottom inside of the cup. They display amazingly and it is not a design you will find again anytime soon! The cup is 2.375 inches tall and 2.75 inches in diameter. The saucer is 0.875 inches tall and 5.25 inches in diameter. Each is marked with an early impressed shield mark as well as an impressed number as shown. Nice clear mark under the cup! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
