Child's / Doll Blue Cornflower Set

This is a really cute child's or doll sized coffee set made in the Paris region around 1800. This is the oldest miniature set I have ever owned and it is really nice. All the pieces are hand painted with the famous blue cornflowers as well as a gold trim. The blue corn flowers were made popular by Marie Antoinette who was a huge fan of them and that is why one finds this sort of decoration in the late 18th century well into the 19th century. A really cute set and whoever was lucky to ahve gotten it all those years ago must have been thrilled and definitely part of a well to do family! All in all there are 11 pieces - there are 4 cups and saucers, a pot with lid and a creamer. It did come with a normal sized teabowl but that was too large and had a different design to it. Luckily because this design was so popular one should be able to find a small teabowl to use as a perfect replacement for the missing sugar dish. I will be on the lookout for that for sure! The piece are in great condition with some gold wear and the coffee pot has a chip to one side and bottom of the animal spout and a chip to the foot edge plus some minor flakes to the bottom edge as well. None that take away fro the piece and it still displays nicely from the other side! The flowers on the lid have faded but it is definitely the right lid. Each cup is just under 1.75 inches tall and 1.625 inches in diameter. The saucers are 0.75 inches tall and 3.625 inches in diameter. The coffee pot is 4.75 inches tall, 4 inches from spout to handle and and 2.25 inches in diameter. Then there is a creamer which is 3.875 inches tall, 2.25 inches from spout to handle and 1.875 inches in diameter. None of the pieces are marked but they are from this region and from the late 18th to early 19th century. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
