Gold Scene Sugar Dish

This is a great sugar dish or small lidded urn made in France likely by one of the Paris region makers around 1800. The piece has a nice shape to it with two figural handles and lots of gilding and puce trim. There are two panels of gilding that at first glance look just like plain gold but if you look a bit closer you can see scenes with fruit in them in those panels. Amazing how they could pull that off. Same on the lid but these are harder to see. The piece is not marked underneath but that is fairly normal. It is 6 inches tall and 3.75 inches in diameter. The sugar dish and lid are in great condition with a little wear but really not much compared to most pieces of this period and the finial was off and reglued.
