Green Ground Bough Pot

This is a superb bough or bulb pot made by one of the Paris makers in the early 19th century. Jacob Petit comes to mind with this style of decoration but it being unmarked makes it impossible to pin point the exact maker. It is nicely hand painted with a bird scene on white ground on one side and a flower scene to the other with the rest of the piece having a nice green ground color and lots of raised gilding. The lid has the same ground color and gilding and the top edge of the main body has a reticulated design to it. The main body sits on four claw feet which is always nice looking! Each side has a sort of handle in the shape of a young girls head. The lid has holes in it for the flowers to grow out of but it could also be used for potpourri! The flower pot is not marked underneath but that is common for Paris pieces of this time period. The piece including its lid is 5.5 inches tall and 5 inches in diameter! It is in good condition but does have wear to the gilding and a small reglue chip to the top edge as shown. It does display nicely! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
