Nice Large Scenic Vase

This is a superb Empire period vase made by one of the Paris region makers in about 1810. The quality nis better than many so it had to ahve been one of the better makers like Dagoty for example. The piece is hand painted with a landscape scene all around the main body, has two really ncie handles with lion faces in the tops (I tried to find similar handles on other pieces but could not find any) and has the usual gilding all around. Very typical for this region except that the quality of the scene is nicer. It includes building, people and trees. The vase is in great condition with virtually no wear to the gilding but there is a chip to a corner of the base and along the top edge of the base where it attaches to the main body as shown. Both have been gilded in to hide them a bit better. About as good an example in this style as one could hope for! The metal screw that connects the top and bottom piece is rusty which is normal. The vase is unmarked except for an incised letter K underneath which is normal for pieces from this region. The vase is 12 inches tall, 5.5 inches wide and 4.25 inches deep.
