Nice Wash Set

This is a superb wash bowl and pitcher or if you prefer basin and ewer made by one of the Paris makers in the early 19th century. The perfect set if you want to complete a period bedroom or such and quite hard to find since these were meant to be used often and not many have survived. The bowl has a nice shape to it and is painted in a very typical fashion of the period for this area with a pink ground color and a floral and garland design on top of that in mainly red, blue, purple and green. Gold trim to the edge and around the edge of the well with a gold flower to the center. The pitcher is painted the same way and has a nicely shaped handle to it. The set displays very well but there are two restorations to the edge of the basin as well as some gold wear plus a bit of staining to the well and the pitcher has a tiny bit of wear and some old hairline cracks to it in the center of the body - none reach the edge and they are probably the result of banging into a table or such. Still a nice example that would complete a room perfectly! Neither piece is marked underneath except for two incised lines but that is common for Paris pieces of this time period. The bowl is 3.5 inches tall, 8.5 inches deep and about 14 inches wide. The pitcher is 10.5 inches tall and about 5 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
