Potpourri Dish

This is a potpourri dish made in France in the late 18th or early 19th century. It is nicely handpainted with two large bird scenes, lots of gold trim and has two branch handles. The lid is nicely reticulated and has lots of gold trim as well. All in all quite nice for this kind of item. The piece is sadly not in perfect condition at all. One handle has broken off and needs to be reglued properly and the other handle has one end piece broken off and missing. There is a chip to the top rim which isn't bad, a little wear to the gilding and crazing to the glaze - on the inside of the main body and the outside mostly of the top. Also a few hairlines but the piece is stable. So all in all it needs a bit of TLC to get back to perfection but is certainly nice enough to deserve this! There is a hole in the center of the main part - looks like someone might have tried to make it into a lamp?? It is not marked underneath but certainly French. The entire piece is about 9 inches tall and 6 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $149
