Matte Blue & Scenic Cup & Saucer

This is a superb cup and saucer made most likely by Dagoty - one of the Paris area makers - or possibly another one of the top factories fo the region around 1800. They were the first to use glazed and unglazed in combination. This cup is uses that stunningly! It has that amazing matte / unglazed blue ground color that is so rare but yet sooo nice, a superb gold trim over that and gold trim around the edges and the well. The saucer has two superb landscape scenes alternating with the blue ground designs and the cup has a large extremely well painted scene to the front of Venus and cupid / Amor in a landscape surrounding. Top quality set! Typically shaped handle to the cup. This set is in great condition with a touch of wear to the gold around the well of the saucer. Neither piece is marked except for the typical incised letters of the region which don't help a whole lot. The cup is 2.375 inches tall and 2.375 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1.125 inches tall and 5.125 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
