Superb Figural Basket

This is a superb figural basket made by one of the better Paris region makers - possibly Dagoty or Dihl - around 1800 during the Empire period. The basket is superb with the typical oval shaped reticualted basket on top highlighted with gilding and a nice gold and blue design to the bottom part. The blue is the stunning unglazed blue ground color that is so rare but yet sooo nice - probably my favorite color in all of porcelain. The basket is held up by two biscuit (unglazed) cherubs / angels holding quivers (I think). The cherubs have gold wings which is really nice. The two cherubs kneel on top of a rectangular base that is also painted with the same superb blue ground color highlighted with gold flowers. The base sits on top of four gold claw feet. All in all a perfect combination of color, shape and figural componets to make this one elegant piece. The porcelain is in perfect condition but there is some wear to the blue ground color on top of the base by the cherubs likely due to them having moved during the years since the crwes holding the basket and base together have been replaced now. I suspect the old ones were rather loose and rusty. The replacements are already quite old as well. A bit of gold wear but really pretty minor for a piece this old and much less than normal. A little blue paint would fix the issue quite easily which someone already attempted in one small spot but I guess didn't have the perfectly matching tint and stopped. Neither the top nor the base is marked but that is not unheard of for the makers of this area during this period! The entire piece is 9.75 inches tall, 9.5 inches wide and 5.5 inches deep. An amazing piece to look at! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
