Vieux Paris Pair of Biscuit Candlesticks

This is a rare pair of figural candlesticks made by one of the Paris makers in about 1850. It is quite rare to find a pair of this quality and condition. This pair is a bit 'newer' than the other one I have on the site. Here we have a male version who is wearing a colorful warm weather outfit and is standing in front of some tropical looking plants with the basket on his right should being the candlestick and a female version which is equally nice and standing in front of the same foliage. Both are very well modeled and painted and of very good quality. They also have some typical Paris style flowers on the front of the base and are in surprisingly good condition. Just some wear to the gilding which is normal since French gilding wears quite easily. He has one teeny rough spot on a leaf but you need to feel for it to find it. The figurines are not marked underneath except for two incised parallel lines underneath the base of the female piece but that is quite normal for the Paris makers. They are 14.75 inches tall, 6 inches wide and 5.75 inches deep so quite large! Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $999
