Popov Peasant Lady Figurine

This is a rare figurine made by Popov in the first half of the 19th century. Alexander Popoff founded the factory near Moscow in the early 19th century. The products were highly sought after and from 1810 until 1830 they produced the best quality wares. The factory was closed in 1872. The figurine is from a series depicting peasants / farmers doing day to day chores. The example here is rather rare and depicts a peasant lady cutting tops of the wheat sheaf. It is nicely modeled in unglazed biscuit porcelain with lots of nice details to it and hand painted superbly. The lady is dressed in skirt and long top and wearing a scarf over her head. The reddish brown skirt and blue head covering look superb in contrast to the mostly grey tones of the base and top. Brown trim around the base edge. A really stunning example of their work and it is in perfect condition! The piece is marked underneath with the impressed Popov mark as shown as well as another impressed mark I cannot make out - maybe a letter K could be an artist initial. The figurine is 3 inches tall, 5.875 inches wide and 3.5 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
