Prague Kaiser Ferdinand I Bust

This is a nice little bust made by Kriegel & Cie. Prague in the Czech Republic in the mid 19th century. These are more famous as having been made by the Royal Vienna factory that made about 200 of these of famous people. Vienna made artists like Shakespeare , rulers like the Kaisers , top military commanders and lots of others. This factory seems to also have made a few of these in the same style though I have not come across many over the years. The figure here is Kaiser Ferdinand I . He was was the Emperor of Austria from March 1835 until his abdication in December 1848. Prague was founded by Josef Emanuel Huebel in 1793. It was part of the Austrian Empire back then. The bust is nicely modeled in unglazed biscuit porcelain and has a bunch of medals / orders pinned to his chest including the order of the golden fleece around his neck. The bust has a glazed base to it with some gold trim. Very similar in terms of look to the Vienna examples. A nice looking piece and not one I can find anywhere else so definitely rare. The figurine is in superb condition with just a touch of wear to the gilding. Marked underneath with the impressed K & Co Prag mark as shown. The figure is 5.375 inches tall, 2.625 inches wide and 2 inches deep. Please email me for more information or photos.
