Rauenstein Cup & Saucer

This is a cup and saucer made by Rauenstein around 1800. Rauenstein is one of the better known Thuringia makers as they made a lot of porcelain mostly decorated with the strawflower pattern until the end of the 19th century but the older pieces are hard to find. Rauenstein existed from 1783 until about 1930. This cup and saucer is handpainted with two horns of plenty that have flowers come out of them. The inside bottom of the cup has a flower painted on it. The porcelain has a ribbed pattern in relief very typical of all the Thuringia makers around this time period. The set is in good condition with a manufacturing flaw in the footring of the cup and a few black specs from the firing process. They are both marked underneath with the R-n mark in black only used for a short time. The cup is 1.75 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter and the saucer is 1.25 inches tall and 5.125 inches in diameter. Please e-mail me for more information or photos.

Price is $399
