Rauenstein Tankard

This is a porcelain tankard made by Rauenstein in the mid 19th century. The body and lid are handpainted with an underglaze blue design based on the strawflower design with birds plus red highlights and gold trim. A very nice piece and fancier and nicer than most I have seen over the years not that these are common at all! The body also has a raised design to it in the form of columns and the pewter lid mount has a nice finial on the handle. The tankard is marked underneath with the RN under the crossed flags mark in underglaze blue as well as an incised number 3. It is in superb condition with just a bit of wear to the gilding and a very small rim chip hidden by the lid when it is closed. The tankard with lid is 7.25 inches tall and 3.25 inches in diameter plus the handle which sticks out 1.25 inches. Please email me for more information or photos.
