Ridgway Plate

This is a plate made by Ridgway or Shelton around 1830. Shelton was founded by Job Ridgway around 1802. Porcelain was not produced here until 1830 and by the end of the 19th century they gained some international acclaim for their luxury porcelain. This plate is definitely worthy of attention. One of the best scenes I have seen on English porcelain is handpainted in the center. Nice dark blue, peach and gold trim with reticulated areas on the rim. This plate is in absolutely perfect condition, 1.125 inches tall and 9.25 inches in diameter. Amazingly this plate is unmarked but that isn't unusual for this period in English porcelain.
