Rosenthal Korean Dancer Figurine

This is a rare porcelain figurine made by Rosenthal in about 1920. It is a large colorful figurine of a Siamese or Korean dancer and depicts Anita Berber doing a Korean dance. This is probably the most famous of all the Rosenthal figurines and rare to find from the original period. It is superbly modeled and handpainted in the better of the two variations (that is my opinion off course!). It was first designed by C. Holzer-Defanti who worked for Rosenthal from 1918 -1927 and whose signature is incised in the top of the base. The figurine is in superb condition with the thumb on her right hand missing a piece and the budda near her feet having wear to the gold on his head. Neither is detrimental to the piece at all! The figurine is marked underneath with the green Rosenthal mark with Selb-Bavaria underneath as shown in the pictures and an impressed H or K 566 and a small 8. Also signed by the painter Geigenmueller underneath. The figurine is about 16 inches tall, 4 inches wide and 6.75 inches deep. Please email me for more information or photos.
