Floral Plate #4

This is a nice floral deep or soup plate made by Royal Vienna in the 18th century before they started using the date codes in the 1780s. The piece is hand painted with a nice floral arrangement in the well of the plate with two smaller flowers filling in the rest of the space. The rim has a nice basket weave relief design to it with five more flowers over that and a brown trim to the edge. What is interesting regarding this piece is that it came in a set of eight plates all of which were painted by a different painter working for them so you can compare their styles and use of colors. Quite neat! I am listing them all separately. The painter in this case here is probably Jakob Burghauser who worked for the factory from 1762 until after 1801. The plate is in great condition with stacking wear to the small yellow flower in the well of the plate and some tiny black firing spots but it displays superbly. Really nice looking flowers on this one! The plate is marked with the under glaze blue shield mark underneath as well as the painter's mark 5. and an impressed letter N near the footring as shown. The plate is 1.75 inches tall and 9.625 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or photos.
