Rozenburg Cup & Saucer

This is a superb cup and saucer made by Rozenburg in the early 20th century. I always wanted to have one like this but never thought I would be lucky enough to find a perfect example! Rozenburg eggshell porcelain was only made from about 1900 until 1914 and is about as Art Nouveau as you can get! They were situated in The Hague, Holland's seat of government. The eggshell porcelain is amazingly thin and delicate unlike anything else you can find in the world of European porcelain! The set is handpainted with a superb floral and bird design that fits the shape of the pieces perfectly. The set is in perfect condition which is not common at all due to the thinness of this porcelain. It is actually the first piece I have seen that was perfect but it is so rare that I haven't seen much of it by any means. Both pieces are marked with the black Rozenburg Den Haag mark with the stork in the middle as well as the usual artist and year marks, etc. The cup is just under 2.25 inches tall and 2.375 inches in diameter. The saucer is 0.375 inches tall and 4.375 inches in diameter. A Dutch collector buddy of mine gave me more info on the set - the painter is C.w.j. ’t Hart, the mark is a C in the middle of an H and the year mark that looks like a moon was used from Janurary until July of 1914. It is called eggshell porcelain, but in fact it is very thin earthenware. Learned something new - again :) Please email me for more information or other pictures.
