Rozenburg Cup & Saucer #2

This is a superb cup and saucer made by Rozenburg in the early 20th century. Rozenburg eggshell porcelain was only made from about 1900 until 1914 and is about as Art Nouveau as you can get! They were situated in The Hague , Holland's seat of government. The eggshell porcelain is amazingly thin and delicate unlike anything else you can find in the world of European porcelain and even more amazing is that it is actually a type of earthenware which is super thin and not true porcelain at all. The set is hand painted with a superb floral design with a red trim. The shape of the cup handle and the decoration is typical of this factory during the Art Nouveau period. The set is in great condition with some very fine crazing which has stained a bit on the underside of the cup and a tiny bit going up the very bottom of the side. I ahve been cleaning it slowly and it is already much lighter than it was originally. Won't play with it too much since I don't want to harm the set. It displays perfectly!! No hairlines or chips which is amazing since it is such a fragile set! Both pieces are marked with the black Rozenburg Den Haag mark with the stork in the middle and the crown above as well as the usual black marks - in this case a 283 and a box with a cross in it. The cup is just under 1.875 inches tall and 2.875 inches in diameter. The saucer is 0.75 inches tall and 4.75 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
