Rue de Crussol Potter Plate #2

This is really nice plate made by Rue de Crussol of the Paris region in the late 18th century. The Englishman Christopher Potter started the factory in 1789 and it ran until the 19th century sometime around 1819. So not very long. Here we have an unusually well dated example which I have not seen before. It dates the piece to the 27th of May 1793. So a fairly early piece for this maker! The duchess of Berry was a patron of this maker which helped it get off the ground. Very well thought of by collectors and there was even a book written on this maker a few years back if I recall correctly. The plate is superbly hand painted with a very fancy quite modern looking design around the rim including pot with white roses growing out of them. The well has lots of tiny gold leaves scattered throughout. A really fancy looking plate! The piece is in superb condition with the pink drapes hanging from the center of the flower pots to the gold garland hooks did not fire properly but since it is even all around it looks part of the design and does not take away from it. These things happen on these early wares! All part of the charm of 18th century porcelain! The plate is marked underneath with the under glaze B over POTTER over 5 mark and the black markings n then some I cannot make out, a capital A and 27 may 1793. Maybe it was a design example specimen never meant to be sold. Like I said I have not seen one with this exact a date mark except on a plate I jsut listed as well. These two came together so that makes sense. The plate is 1.375 inches tall and 9.625 inches in diameter. A nice size and a really nice looking example!
