Samson Cat with Mouse Figurine

This is a really nice and large figurine of a cat made by Samson of Paris in the 19th century . Meant to imitate the top German maker's original it is still an amazing piece of porcelain. The figure is nicely modeled as a cat holding its catch ( a mouse ) in its mouth with its left paw pawing at the catch. The cat is sitting on a base with some greenery painted on it. The cat and mouse are both really nicely painted with a striped coat with some orange mixed in. The piece displays superbly but it does ahve a small chip to the tip of the left ear and the right back foot of the mouse is chipped. There is a spot on the base which was painted over and one underneath its left shoulder that are rough from when they were made - there would have been a firing support placed here which was removed before being painted. This is normal and not a flaw. The figurine is marked with the typical Samson crossed lines mark in under glaze blue to the back of the base as shown. The figure is 7.625 inches tall, 3.75 inches wide and 7.25 inches long. So a rather large piece in the world of porcelain. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
