Samson Damaged Tankard

This is a nice tankard made by Samson of Paris in the 19th century. Meant to imitate a Chelsea Derby piece with a blue anchor and letter D under a crown mark but also has the gold double S mark showing it to be made by Samson the imitator. I bought the piece to use it for an everyday piece but alas when it arrived it turned out to be restored and I cannot use it since it would fall apart over time. I was bummer but we've all been there when buying online. The piece is superbly hand painted with some nice floral arrangements as well as a stunning blue ground with nice gilding over it. Gold trim to the edges and handle. The piece perfectly and honestly I cannot figure out what was restored but I am sure the handle was off. I don't see anything else when shining a light through it but there is over paint on the inside. Likely just to hide the repair and give it all an even appearance. A bit of wear to the gilding along the top edge. The piece is 5.75 inches tall and 3.5 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $129
