Samson Radish & Melon Scene Plate

This is a really nice plate made by Samson in France in the mid to later 19th century. He is a well known artist that sadly decided to copy and try to fake his way through life instead of making original pieces which I think would ahve made him a real force to be reckoned with. The plate design is off course copied from an old Meissen original. I have two veggy plates from the mid 18th century by them that this looks pretty close to. Not as nice off course but still really nice. The plate is nicely hand painted with scene in the center of a slice of melon as well as a radish with some pea pods above and six single flowers along the rim which has a nice basket weave design to the paste. Gold trim to the edge. A great looking plate that is in great condition with jsut a touch of wear to the gold trim along the edge and a tiny flaw from when it was made to the underside edge. It displays perfectly! The plate is marked with his typical crossed lines with a straight line through the center in under glaze blue as shown. Old label which off course is wrong. The piece is 1.25 inches tall and 9.5 inches in diameter.  Please email me for more information or other pictures.
