Schlaggenwald Socrates Cup

This is a superb portrait cup made by Schlaggenwald around 1840. The cup is handpainted with a well painted portrait of Socrates on the front as well as some nice fancy gilding and a nicely shaped handle including a lion face medallion on the top part. The cup is in perfect condition with some super minor wear to the top inside gold trim and top of the handle as well as a tiny firing flaw on Socartes' robe as shown. The cup is marked with the impressed S mark used from 1830 until 1870 as well as an impressed J.4 not sure what that is for. The piece including the handle is 4.125 inches tall and 3.25 inches in diameter. It came with the scenic saucer but none of the gold elements match and the center well where the cup would sit is a tiny bit to small so this was most likely a marriage.
