Schlaggenwald / Schney Scenic Pitcher

This is a really ncie scenic pitcher or large creamer / milk jug made made by Schlaggenwald or Schney in the early 19th century. The piece is hand painted with a nice scene to the front of a person walking through a landscape. It is surrounded by a simple gold frame. The rest of the main body has a nice yellow ground color with the foot and top being fully gilded. The top outside gilding is matte with shiny stars to it. Really an unsual design but my favorite part is the fancy handle with the devil or goblin face to the bottom terminal and a white lion head to the top. A truly superb pitcher! The piece is in great condition with a few minor firing spots and a spot of wear to the nose of the bottom terminal and one small spot along the foot. A fine glaze line to the udnerside near the mark - it is not a hairline! It displays perfectly! The piece is marked with the under glaze blue S mark as shown. The pitcher including the handle is 8.375 inches tall and 3.75 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or photos.
