German Shepherd Dog Figurine

This is a figurine of a German Shepherd or possible Belgian Malinois dog made by the Schwarzburger Werkstaetten around 1922 when it was first designed. That means it is one of the rare original pieces and not a later copy! The figure is nicely modeled with lots of details to it and superbly hand painted - I especially like the way the face and that tongue are done. The piece is in great condition - there is a mark on either side on the belly near the front legs - these are from when it was made - firing supports were attached there. No real issues but needs to be mentioned. The figurine is 8 inches tall, 2.875 inches wide and about 9 inches long. The underside base is marked with the impressed fox mark as well as the impressed stamp stating Schwarzburger Werkstaetten fuer Porzellankunst, impressed number 12 and impressed model number U1289 as shown. The top of the base has the artist mark incised into it as shown. A. Zauche for Arno Zauche and Weimar under that. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $499
