Superb Colorful Cup & Saucer

This is a cup and saucer ( Gobelet litron et soucoupe ) made by Sevres in 1764. One of the nicest sets I ahve owned by them. It is hand painted using some of their most famous colors including Rose Pompadour and Apple Green. Each piece has a superb design with panels of the nice green color that oval panels inside them with little floral arrangements to them. The green panels are separated by rose colored strips with a blue and tiny gold dots necklace type design to it. The blue dots are thicker and can be felt with your fingers which is really neat. There are also three panels with fancy arabesque type design vases filled with roses. The rim has a leaf and red berries garland and a gold trim to it. Typical handle shape for this sort of cup with a bit of gilding to it as well. They are both marked underneath in blue with the interlaced L mark with an L (date code for 1764) in the center of the cup and a k under it. I am not sure of the decorator for this mark. They both have the typical incised marks as well which are hard to see and each has the little hole in the foot ring from the firing process. The set is in great condition with a small flat outside rim chip to the saucer which is almost impossible to see from the top. A cheap fix for any restorare if need be. There is wear to the gilding and the top edge was at some point regilded by someone i order for it to display better but it could be done better. The set does displays superbly! The cup is 2.375 inches tall and 2.25 in diameter. The saucer is 1.125 inches tall and 4.875 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
