Amazing Lidded Jar

This is a superb and very rare Art Deco lidded container / box made by Sevres in about 1933. It has a really nice shape to it with the sides not being straight down but with a slight curve to it and the lid has steps to is and a large ball finial. The best part however is that really neat decoration to the sides of the main body. Some sort of imaginary or fable animals and people in a landscape surrounding. These were painted after Yves Terrien by an unknown decorator - I can't quite figure out his mark. During this period at Sevres the decorations on porcelain found back its strength and its creativity with many young artists such as Yves Terrien , Hermine David , Louis Süe , Anne-Marie Fontaine , Jean Mayodon , Joseph Guardiola , Charles Fritz , etc. who expressed their own style and their personality. Quite different from anything else I have seen on porcelain! The scene reminds me of a dream with these odd critters and trees in a grassy field full of flowers. The enamels are thick and from what similar pieces I could find from this period it is actually a type of pate sur pate decoration though colored instead of translucent white. The paste is creme colored or off white color and there is some gilding to the finial and sides of each "step" of the lid as well as a thin gold trim to the bottom of the main body and under the "step" of the main by under the grass part of the design. One of the coolest pieces of Sevres I ahve ever seen. The piece is in good condition with a small and a larger chip to the bottom edge as shown but they are in what I would consider the backside of the piece and thus not terrible. Would be an easy fix if need be! Just an amazing piece and a new favorite of mine!! The container is 5.75 inches tall and 4.25 inches in diameter. It is marked underneath with the Sevres mark as shown with the date letter f , impressed marks as is the norm on Sevres of this period and the painter's mark folowed by ap Y. Terrien.
