Boy Bust

This is a nice biscuit figural bust of a young man / boy made by Sevres in 1958. The bust is made of unglazed bisque or biscuit porcelain and is extremely well modeled with lots of superb details. Sevres made a few different busts and they are all superb. The combination of the unglazed white and the blue ground colored base with the gold trim make them very decorative and elegant. This bust is of Alexandre Brongniart who went on to become the director of the Sevres factory. The piece is after Houdon. The figurine and base are in perfect condition with a bit of an uneven paste area on his right shoulder from when it was made. The bust is marked on the back by his shoulders with the impressed Sevres mark, an impressed number and artist mark as well as the name of the boy and the artist this was made after. The base has the red gilder's mark and the green Sevres mark including the year mark 58 as shown. The entire figure is 8.25 inches tall, about 5 inches wide and 3.25 inches deep.
