Jewelled Portrait Creamer

This is an porcelain pipe possibly made by Sevres in the early 19th century. I have never seen a pipe bowl in this style and have no idea if they made them at all or if the porcelain was made by one of the Paris or Limoges area makers. The decoration almost certainly was done in the Limoges area in the early 19th century. The pipe has that famous celeste blue ground color with a superb hand painted scene to the front including two people, a table, a column, a painting and some more details that are really done very well but my favorite part are the Limoges Jewels - red and white enamel colors set on gold backing all around the scene. Some gold trim to the top edge and that little part sticking out the front. The quality of the decoration is superb as is the color combination with the turquoise blue plus the jewels are stunning! I love these enamel pieces on real gold foil applied all around on these types of pieces! The piece is in great condition with some wear to the gilding just along the top but luckily none of the jewels are missing which is so often the case. Some minor use marks to the scene but nthing that takes away from the piece! All in all as nice as you will get and it displays perfectly! The pipe bowl is not marked and is 4.125 inches tall including and 1.25 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
