Lapis Lazuli Ground Cup & Saucer w/Flaw

This is a nice cup and saucer made by Sevres in 1920, 1922/ 1925. The set is hand painted with their famous mottled deep cobalt blue color (I think it is meant to imitate lapis lazuli) with a superb gold trim over that that covers the rims plus a nice gilded medallion in the center of the saucer and a gold stripe along the sides of the handle. A simple gold trim to the outside foot of the cup which in combination with the blue ground on the outside rim of the saucer make this an extra elegant set! I always love how they color the underside rim of the saucer - just a nice touch! The set is in great condition but there are three spots in the center of the saucer where the glaze got dinged and a tiny (and I mean tiny) spot on the bottom edge of the cup where the gilding didn't cover a small divot. It is glazed so a flaw from when it was made. They display nicely and only the larger spot on the saucer is visible when you have it displayed. Not bad at all. Both pieces are marked underneath - the cup having the oval 1920 over DA with Manufacture de L'etat Sevres mark as well as Made in France and the red Dore a Sevres mark for 1925 plus the usual artist, gilder's and incised marks one find on autentic pieces from this period. The saucer has the S over 1922 DA mark, Made in France, the red Dore a Sevres mark, artist and gilder's mark plus the usual inicsed marks as well. The saucer is 1.125 inches tall and 5.125 inches in diameter. The cup is 2.5 inches tall and just under 2.5 inches in diameter. A really elegant and nice looking set. Can't beat the amazing blue and gold combo! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
