Blue Ground & Scenic Creamer

This is a rare creamer / milk jug / pot à lait à trois pieds made by Sevres around 1773 (the teapot of the set has the date mark as well as artist marks). The pitcher is made of soft paste porcelain and has that very nice creamy white paste that collectors love so much. The piece is hand painted with a superb scene en grisaille (in tones of grey / black) of a cherub / angel sitting on a cloud working on some sort of garland / braid. The scene is surrounded by a gold band, then a leaf and berry garland and another gold trim around that that is tooled nicely. The rest of the main body has an amazing deep cobalt blue ground color and a really nice thick gold trim around the top. It sits on three feet made to look like pieces of a branch and has a handlealso made to look like a branch that terminates into 3D flowers and leaves on either end. The feet and handle are highlighted with gilding. The piece is in perfect conditionwith a couple of very minor scratches to the glaze from use which is normal on softpaste pieces! It displays perfectly! The pot is marked with the interlaced double L mark in blue underneath one of the feet which I jsut discovered. Each foot has a piece of felt glued to the underside and I will leave them there. No artist marks on this piece but the one artist mark of the teapot from this set is for Fountaine (J.) who was a painter at the factory from 1752 until 1807. The other artist mark on the tea pot I could not figure out. The piece is 4 inches tall, 2.875 inches wide and 4.125 inches from handle to spout.
