Godronnee Cup & Saucer #5

This is a superb cup and saucer made by Sevres in mid 19th century. The saucer is from 1857 and the cup only has the incised marks which look to be for 1837. It is common for pieces to have different dates for this maker so this is not usnual at all. The set is decorated in the Godronnee design with a raised ribbed type of design to the outside of the cup with gilding in the lower parts between the raised parts. Nice handle shape with more gilding to it as well as a gold trim to the top edge and around the foot of the cup. The saucer decoration is in the opposite way - the sections are sunk into the paste with the higher parts in between highlighted with gilding and a gold trim to the edge. It is a simple but very stunning looking decoration that one does not see often at all! The set is in perfect condition with just some very minimal wear to the gilding but they display perfectly! Both pieces are marked underneath - the saucer with the oval green mark S. 57 for 1857 with a cut line across it denoting it being a second choice piece. Also the usual incised marks as shown. The cup does not have a mark except for the usual incised marks as shown. The saucer is 0.875 inches tall and 5.375 inches in diameter. The cup is just under 2.75 inches tall and 2.875 inches in diameter. A stunning looking set! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
