Mottled Blue Ground Gold & Platinum Flowers Service for 4

This is an amazing tea service for four people made by Sevres around 1897/1904. The set is hand painted with their famous deep blue ground color which in this case is applied unevenly which looks stunning as some areas are this rich deep cobalt blue and other are much lighter in color! The pieces have a great floral design over that ground color in gold with the blossoms having a platinum color to the petals as shown. Gold trim to the edges and handles as well as the finials. An truly stunning and elegant design! The saucer's underside rims also have that nice cobalt blue ground color and gold trim to the footring. The set consists of a tea or coffee pot with its lid, a sugar dish with its lid, a creamer with its lid and four cups with their four saucers ( I know I only show three - it looked better but the detailed pics are of the fourth set!). The set is in perfect condition except for the most minor tiny chip to the bottom edge of the teapot that is gilded in. All pieces are marked underneath as shown with a variety of dates in terms of the making of the blancs which is not unusual for Sevres as they kept white pieces in their vaults for a long time. The cups and saucers as well as the creamer and sugar dish were all made in 1895 with the cups and saucers decorated / gilded in 1897 while the rest of the set was decorated / gilded in 1904. The teapot was made in 1848 and decorated / gilded along with the rest of the main pieces in 1904. All pieces have the usual incised marks as shown and some have decorator's marks as well. The saucers are about 1.125 inches tall and 5.375 inches in diameter. The cups are about 2.625 inches tall and 2.5 inches in diameter. The creamer is 3.875 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter. The sugar dish is 4.75 inches tall and 3.875 inches in diameter. The tea pot is 5.375 inches tall and has a diameter of 4.5 inches. The nicest set by far of this period I have owned!
