Fountainebleau Hunting Service Saucer

This is a superb and rare saucer dish made by Sevres in 1894 / 1896. It is from the famous Service de Chasse Fontainebleau aka the Royal Hunt or Hunting Service of King Louis Philippe of France . It is off course a piece made to replace a damaged piece of the original set made closer to the mid 19th century. The dish is superbly decorated with arabesques scrolls of foliage with three panels showing different scenes in grey tones on a reddish ground color surrounded by fancy gilding. One panel has a wheat sheeth with a sickle in it, another a bottle of wine and some fruit in a pedestal dish and the third a handheld mirro as well as two fan blades. The edge of the well of the saucer has a geometric gold band around it with a gold star design in the center. The rim design has the outlines transfer printed I think but the colors are all hand painted unlike the later copies. The service was initially ordered in 1836 and the first pieces were delivered in 1839 all the way into the early 1840s. It was then augmented with more pieces until 1847. It is quite rare to find these authentic Sevres pieces nowadays especially from royal services! The saucer in superb condition as nice as they come. It is 1 inch tall and 5.5 inches in diameter. The piece is marked underneath with the under glaze green oval with S.94 in it, the circular red Dore a Sevres mark with 96 in it and the orange mark for the Chateau de F.Bleau. It does off course also ahve the usual incised marking that authentic Sevres porcelain from this period always has as shown. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
