Jewelled Portrait Plate

This is a really nice portrait plate marked with a Sevres type mark (but definitely not done by them). Probably dates to the early 19th century and has a hand painted portrait of I believe Marie Adélaïde of Savoy who was the Duchess of Burgundy who lived from 1685 until 1712. The portrait is of superb quality! The surrounding part of the plate has a nice rich yellow ground color which is unusual since yellow is very expensive due to the fact that it is derived from a gold oxide I believe. The rim has a nice raised floral design to it that is highlighted with gilding but the best part is all those 'jewels' - the little raised colored designs all around the portrait as well as in spots along the rim. I think these are attached to little thin pieces of gold and then fired onto the porcelain which makes for an amazing look! The porcelain itself is softpaste porcelain and it has the little hole for hanging in the foot ring that even has the tell tale black firing dirt in it so the plate might be Sevres which was then later decorated though I doubt it would be from the early days with a date letter a. Very thin for Sevres porcelain. Marked with the interlaced double L mark in blue as well as with the name of the lady on the front in black. The plate is in great condition with minimal wear. The plate is 9.25 inches in diameter and just under 1 inch tall. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
