Jewelled Small Saucer #1

This is a truly superb small saucer made by Sevres in the 18th century after 1780 when they started using the " jewelled " decoration and before 1804 when they stopped using softpaste. It is made of soft paste porcelain and decorated with applied 'jewels' - In this case a rather fancy version of them. The center just has the gold dots with a tiny ring of turquoise dots around the edge of the well. The lower part of the rim has large salmon colored jewels with green and white ones around it. They look like tiny fancy doorways. In between are more of the gold dots matching the center of the well. Then there is another ring of tiny turquoise jewels with a rahter fancy decoration above it where the entire wide ring is with gold foil that has green leaf garlands on top with alternating large turquoise and pink jewels in between. Another ring of tiny turquoise beads above that and gold trim to the edge. I can only imagine what the cup must have looked like but alas it is missing. A stunning example of the jewelled work! The dish is marked with the interlaced double L mark in gold plus some of the usual incised marks to the underside and the little hole in the foot ring from firing typical for Sevres pieces as shown. The saucer is in great condition with some of the applied enamel jewels missing or damaged and some of the gold foil dots missing in the center. Still an awesome looking dish and worthy of owning! The dish is 0.75 inches tall with a diameter of 3 inchesl. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
