Marie Antoinette Relief Plaque

This is a really fun piece made by Sevres in the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is a relief plaque / medallion of Marie Antoinette's head. Made to look like the Wegwood blue and white Jasperware so popular around this time (and still today) but it is made of white porcelain with a light blue paint over the top. The head relief is biscuit or unglazed porcelain. The blue part is unglazed as well but gives a nice contrast to the white. Great detail to the piece and it is even signed Sevres on the bottom edge of the bust relief part as shown. The script Sevres mark was used in colors around the turn of that century but I am not sure how long the incised version was used. The piece is definitely very uncommon. It is in great condition with two white round spots on the left side of the head in the blue area and one slightly larger black firing spot on the right sid as shown near her chin. The frame is made of brass I believe and could use a polishing. It has a little bit of a design to it to the inner side. The frame has a dent to the bottom and a few other dings to it which given the age has to be expected. The piecelain has no chips or repairs or cracks. It is in great condition. It is marked Sevres as mentioned already plus script Li incised to the underside as shown. The porcelain plaque is about 0.25 inches thick and 3.5 inches in diameter. Including the metal frame it is 4.125 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
