Pink Ground Cup & Saucer

This is a superb cup and saucer made by Sevres in 1895. The set is hand painted with their famous pink Pompadour ground color one almost never finds on pieces from this period. The rims of the cup and saucer also have a nice gold trim to them with some raised elements, a simple gold trim to the edge and some nice gilding to the branch handle. It's a stunning set and unlike the cobalt blue pieces you will not find another one of these! I always love how they even color the underside rim - just a nice touch! The set is in superb condition which is always a plus. Both pieces are marked underneath with the red Dore a Sevres gilder's mark with the year code 95 for 1895. Neither peice has the mark of when the peices were made which is a bit unusual but not unheard of. Each has the usual incised marks proving them to be Sevres pieces. The saucer can thus be dates to ahving been made in 1866 (the blank piece not the decoration). The saucer is 1.125 inches tall and 4.625 inches in diameter. The cup is 2.5 inches tall and 2.75 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
