Poppy Flower Plate

This is a really nice plate made by Sevres for King Louis Philippe at his Chateau des Tuileries in 1847/48. The Tuileries Palace was a royal and imperial palace in Paris. It was the usual Parisian residence of most French monarchs, from Henry IV to Napoleon III, until it was burned by the Paris Commune in 1871. The plate is superbly hand painted with a large orange and purple poppy flower in the center including the blossom, a but and a seed pod along with its leaves on a stem. A gorgeous flower but that in combination of the cobalt blue ground color along the rim with some nice gold trim over it make it a stunning looking plate! It even has a gold ring around the outside foot ring which is always a sure sign of top quality! The plate is in great condition with some very minor wear to the gilding around the well of the plate. As nice as one could hope for and literally fit for a King , Oueen or any other royalty :) The plate is 1.25 inches tall and 9.5 inches in diameter. it is marked underneath with the green double LP monogram under a crown with SV. 47. as the year mark, the red mark for the Chateau, the usual incised marks as well as artist marks as shown.
