Fountainebleau Hunting Service Plate #3

This is a superb and very rare dinner plate made by Sevres in 1840. It is from the famous Service de Chasse Fontainebleau aka the Royal Hunt or Hunting Service of King Louis Philippe of France . The set is superbly decorated with arabesques of foliage with different animals in between and three oval panel with trophies, animals or other emblems surrounded by a nice gold design, a diamond shaped panel with the Royal Cypher of Louis Philippe (initials LP under a crown), a geometric gold band around the well of the plate and a gold star design in the center of the plate. The animals elude to the hunting part that the Chateau was so famous for. The rim design has the outlines trnasfer printed but the colors are all hand painted unlike the later copies. The service was initially ordered in 1836 and the first pieces were delivered in 1839 all the way into the early 1840s. It was then augmented with more pieces until 1847. So this plate comes from the original order which is rare. It is quite rare to find these authentic Sevres pieces nowadays especially from royal services! The plate in superb condition with just a tiny bit of wear to the gilding. It is 1.375 inches tall and just over 9.5 inches in diameter. The piece is marked underneath with the blue interlaced LP mark under a crown in a circle in blue as well as the red Chateau Fontainebleau mark, the gilders and artist mark initials and the usual incised marking that authentic Sevres porcelain from this period always has as shown.
