Small Pate sur Pate Box

This is a superb and rare box made by Sevres in 1943. It is decorated on the top with a nice pate sur pate scene of a man pouring out a jug of water - probably representing aquarius of the zodiac signs (I think). An amazing quality piece and much rarer than pate sur pate from Meissen or KPM. One actually very rarely sees the Sevres ones! The rest of the box has a mottled greyish brown color that is quite nice with a gold trim to the rims. The bottom part has lots of small stars made of pate sur pate and the inside box has a greenish ground color. The piece is in perfect condition. The box is 2.25 inches tall and 3.5 inches in diameter. It is marked underneath with the green Sevres mark as shown as well as the Decore a Sevres mark, the usual impressed marks one finds on authentic Sevres of this period and the artist signature - CF J' ap. Leduc .45. 40. or something along those lines. Adrien Leduc was I think their head designer and worked at Sevres from 1919 until 1948 so quite a while.
