Sevres Style Vase

This is a really nice vase made in France in the mid to later 19th century. It is superbly modeled with a ram's head on either side, a relief design of a bow to the front and back that come together under the goat's heads and form a neat column like design. The enite vase is decorated in the Sevres style with polychrome floral garlands to the front and back and the ram's heads are fully gilded with some nice detail to them. The bows and columns as well as the lid and base are decorated with that superb cobalt blue color and gold trim combo that one often sees on Sevres porcelain. The lid is reticulated with a large pine cone finial. The base has a nice desig to it including a gilt leaf garland around the foot and there are blue and gold arcanthus types leaves along the bottom of the main body. It's a really nice looking vase! It is in great condition with the main body being perfect and the lid has had the finial broken off and reglued but the piece displays perfectly! The base is marked underneath with the interlaced double L mark with the date letter S in the center. That would date it to 1771 two years after they first made hard paste porcelain. But the style and no incised / artist marks leads me to believe it was made by Samson. Still a gorgeous piece! The vase with the lid in place is about 17 inches tall, 8.25 inches wide and 7 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
