Venus Clipping Cupid's Wings Figurine

This is a really nice biscuit or bisque figurine made by Sevres in 1911. It depicts the goddess Venus clipping the wings of Cupid. Venus is standing above the sleeping Cupid and cutting the ends of his feathers so as to keep him from flying away. Cupid is off course the son of Venus. Cupid's head is resting on some flowers while he is sleeping on a rock base. The back has some of the clippings to the topand two birds in a nest in the side. Venus has her breast exposed but the rest of her is covered up with a cloth. A really well done piece and not one I have seen before. The figure is very detailed and the unglazed porcelain shows it off perfectly! The biscuit figurines Sevres made are superb and they don't come up for sale often at all. The piece is marked on the back of the base under Venus with some impressed marks including the S 1911 in a triangle, Sevres and the letter S as shown. The figurine is in perfect condition but could use a light cleaning. The figurine is 6.25 inches tall and the base is 4.25 inches wide and 3.25 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
