Spode Vegetable Dish

This is an early Spode vegetable dish, pattern 2635. This pattern was introduced c. 1817 and remained popular for some years after that. This oval bowl is slightly lobed in outline and marked with “SPODE” impressed, along with the numeral 4. The pattern number is enameled on the bottom. The underglaze blue printed border is complemented by a central medallion in polychrome. It is 10.5 inches long. One small rim chip. This is a piece owned by a good friend of mine.
