Enamel Harbor Scene Box

This is a nice enamel on copper (I believe) box I think was made in France in the mid 19th century. It looks very much like the Staffordshire Battersea boxes from the Bilston area but the colors and flowers are different. Not exactly any sort of expert on these but I do like them so if anyone has another opinion I am all ears. Either way it is a very nice box with a nice shape to it and a superb harbor scene to the lid including a large ship in the center, lots of smaller ones all around and the buildings of an ancient city to the left and back. A really nicely hand painted scene! The sides of the box have a turquoise ground color with a white flower panel to the front and back and lots of nice raised white trim. The underside has the same turquoise color and raised white trim. The box is in superb condition with just a touch of wear mainly to the underside from age and use which is normal. A little glue residue along the bottom edge of the mounts - they must have been loose at some point. The mounts are oxidized which is normal. The lid closes with a little click but pops open on its own if play with it a bit. All in all as nice a piece as you can hope for! The piece is about 1.5 inch tall, 3.5 inches wide and 1.75 inches deep. It is not marked but that is pretty much always the case. Please email me for more information or photos.
