Thallmeier Scene Plate

This is a plate hand painted by the famous workshop of Franz Xaver Thallmaier around the late 19th century. Thallmaier was a Munich painter to the royal court. He was a freelance painter sort of speak but that was his claim to fame and looking at the quality you can see why the court ordered from him as the quality of this plate certainly matches all the top makers of the time. The plate is nicely hand painted with a hunting scene in the center including a hunter hidden behind the trees on the right, two deer in the front and a superb landscape. Nicely done gold trim around the scene, an oak leaf design to the rim with more gold trim to the nicely shaped edge. All in all a really superb plate! The plate is 1.125 inches tall and 9.5 inches in diameter. It is marked with the green FRZ. XAV. THALLMAIER Kgl. Hof. Porzellan Malerei & Kunsthandlung Muenchen in an oval nark.
