Chinoiserie Scene Plate #1

This is a superb little plate made by an unknown maker in the 19th century. I suspect is was made by Herend but I ahve no way to prove it except a gut feeling. The piece is superbly hand painted in the Meissen Hoeroldt style with a Chinoiserie scene in the center and some bugs and bird in the Kakiemon colors along the rim. Gold trim to the edge. Really a very special piece of superb quality and the painting has been done to a very high standard that not many places could have done during this period. The plate is very thinly potted and has good white translucency. The surface has some manufacturing flaws to it in the form of tiny firing spots. The piece is in great condition without chips but it does ahve some wear mainly from stacking to the clear glaze as well as a glaze line to the back that is not a hairline and does not go through the other side! The plate is 0.75 inches tall and 7.375 inches in diameter. It is marked with a gold fleur de lis to the underside as shown - a mark that does not mean much in this case but was used by the Capodimonte factory in the 18th century among others.
