Cobalt Blue Ground Plate

This is a porcelain plate made by Royal Vienna in about 1770. It is handpainted with great mottled cobalt blue ground color possible trying to copy the famous Sevres blue and has four medallions with polychrome floral arrangements in it surrounded by a nice gilding. Gold trim to the nicely shaped edge. This is a soup plate and it is in great condition. A little bit of wear. The plate is almost 10 inches in diameter and 1.625 inches tall. It is marked with the underglaze blue shield mark as well as an impressed 33 and a painter's mark 44 in red for Johann Prohaska. Please email me for more information or photos.
